“The Korean Zombie” Jung Chan-sung put his name back in contention for a featherweight title shot with a dominant unanimous decision victory Dan Ige in Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 29 main event.
Two judges at the UFC’s Apex facility in Las Vegas saw it 49-46 for 34-year-old South Korean Jung, while the other had him 48-47 ahead of American Ige on the scorecards.
Jung’s takedowns and ground control proved the difference in the fight, and he was awarded his BJJ black belt by his coach after the fight.
“I wanted to show all my skills and the capabilities of me becoming a champion, so I wanted to bring everything to this fight,” Jung told Michael Bisping in his post-fight interview.
“I wanted to do some kind of submission and get a finish the round before going all the way to fifth round, but it’s OK. I do feel a little bit upset about that, but I did bring everything and show the qualities of a champion.”
