American flyweight Jessica Eye needed 13 stitches in the gruesome forehead cut she suffered in her defeat by Jennifer Maia at UFC 264.
Brazilian Maia (19-7-1) beat former title challenger Eye (15-10, one no contest) by unanimous decision inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night.
Eye suffered the cut during the preliminary bout after a clash of heads between the two fighters, and blood gushed down her forehead into her eyes.

“That was a beauty, man,” UFC president Dana White said at the post-even press conference.
“She’s tough as nails. There’s a logical thing that happens to you when you get split wide open like that and blood’s running all over your face into your eyes. She’s tough man, she’s a gamer.”

“Evil” Eye later posted an Instagram story showing off the stitches in her forehead, and insisted she felt she had done enough to win the fight.
“Guys, I just wanna say thank you from my team to all of you supporters,” she said. “We feel we got robbed. We’re gonna go back and check out the tape, but we appreciate everyone’s support.
“And holy s***, that was gnarly,” she added, panning her phone camera up to reveal the cut.
