ONE Championship puts on first all-kickboxing main card with First Strike, featuring featherweight grand prix

  • October 15 event will be headlined by Giorgio Petrosyan and Superbon in battle to determine inaugural ONE featherweight kickboxing champ
  • Eight-man tournament will determine the No 1 contender for the new champion
ONE Championship will stage its first all-kickboxing main card on October 15 with First Strike, featuring the quarter-finals of a featherweight grand prix.

Giorgio Petrosyan – who won the Asian martial arts promotion’s US$1 million grand prix in 2019 – will face Superbon to determine the inaugural ONE featherweight kickboxing champion in the main event.

ONE flyweight Muay Thai champ Rodtang Jitmuangnon will take on Daniel Puertas in a flyweight kickboxing co-main event.

The eight-man featherweight tournament will determine the No 1 contender to the new champion.

Armenia’s Marat Grigorian faces Andy Souwer of the Netherlands, with Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong of Thailand taking on Tayfun Ozcan of Turkey.

The other tournament matchups see French-Algerian Samy Sana battling Chingiz Allazov of Azerbaijan, and Germany’s Enriko Kehl up against Georgia’s Davit Kiria.

The preliminary lead card will be headlined by a bantamweight Muay Thai bout between Saemapetch Fairtex and Tawanchai PK. Saenchai Muaythaigym.

Thee event will kick off with three more kickboxing fights between Rade Opacic and Patrick Schmid (heavyweight), Zhang Chunya and Dovydas Rimkus (featherweight), and Smokin’ Jo Nattawut and Yurik Davtyan (featherweight).
