Denice Zamboanga has had plenty of sympathy following her split decision loss to Sam Heo-hee, and now ONE Championship boss Chatri Sityodtong revealed the fight is under “formal review”.

The South Korean veteran (24-8) picked up a controversial victory on her promotional debut, handing the 24-year-old Filipino (8-1) her first loss at Friday night’s all-female Empower card in Singapore.

But Chatri announced in a Facebook post on Sunday that the atomweight grand quarter-final bout will be looked at by ONE’s Competition Committee, which could overturn the result.

Former Rizin and UFC star Ham moved on to the semi-finals of the eight-woman tournament, and suggested her opponent “should go and study the rules” after Zamboanga called for a review of the fight in the immediate aftermath.

“I thought Denice Zamboanga edged out Seo Hee Ham for the victory in a super close fight,” Chatri wrote in another Facebook post on Saturday. “While I disagree with the judges, I can understand why they scored the bout for Ham.

“It was a very close fight with Ham landing the cleaner, heavier punches with damage and Denice controlling the cage work, takedowns, and ground action. Despite the loss, I definitely want to see Denice vs Angela [Lee] for the world title.”
