Ritu Phogat stunned the MMA world when she survived a torrid first round to take a unanimous decision against Meng Bo, and move on to the semi-finals of ONE Championship’s atomweight grand prix.
But after China’s Meng (17-6) called out Angela Lee in the build-up to the tournament, the atomweight champ could not help taking some pleasure in seeing “The Indian Tigress” (6-1) get her hand raised in Singapore last Friday.

“That was an exciting fight for me,” the 25-year-old told the Post on a Lee family media day interview. “I was rooting for Ritu, just because of how much crap that Meng Bo was talking leading up to this grand prix.

“It was a little bit nerve-racking in the first round, because she [Phogat] almost got knocked out a couple of times, but you could really see how tough she is.

“She has a really big heart, there’s no quit in her, and she just handled her [Meng] in the second and third rounds.

“After the match ended you could see it all over Meng Bo’s face – she was devastated, like ‘what happened?’ That was just priceless. I really think both ladies got what they deserved.”
