- Fighters will look to assert themselves as top contenders in ONE’s surging heavyweight division

South Korea’s Kang Ji-won is set for a high-stakes fight with Brazilian submission specialist Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida.
The two heavyweights will meet in the ONE Championship Circle at the ONE: Winter Warriors event in Singapore on December 3, the promotion confirmed on Thursday.
“Mighty Warrior” Kang, 26, burst into the MMA limelight with a pair of sizzling knockout victories over Mehdi Barghi and Amir Aliakbari under the ONE Championship banner this year.
The two wins pushed Kang’s record to 5-0 overall. All of his victories have come by way of knockout – and all in the first round.
Despite his momentum, Kang will have his hands full with Buchecha, who is widely considered one of the greatest submission grapplers.
The 30-year-old Brazilian, who trains alongside former UFC champions Daniel Cormier and Cain Velasquez at American Kickboxing Academy in California, has 13 Brazilian jiu-jitsu world championships in his trophy case, and made a splash in his MMA debut, submitting kick-boxing specialist Anderson “Braddock” Silva with a first-round north south choke.
