ONE Championship has revealed the line-up for its upcoming Winter Warriors II event. The card will go down behind closed doors on December 3 in Singapore, and be broadcast on December 17. It will serve as the Asian martial arts promotion’s final event of the year, officials confirmed to the Post, adding that the first event of 2022 is slated for January 14. ONE Winter Warriors II will be topped by a pivotal flyweight clash, as No 2-ranked contender Danny Kingad (14-2) of the Philippines takes on Kazakhstan’s Kairat Akhmetov (27-2), ranked No 4. The winner will be well-positioned for a crack at flyweight champion Adriano Moraes, who recently named both men as potential challengers for 2022. “We’re 1-1,” the champion told the Post of Akhmetov, whom he’s fought twice previously. “Maybe the trilogy is going to make sense.” “Danny Kingad is second in the rankings,” the Brazilian added. “He has some good wins too.” ONE: Bhullar warns ‘dirty Russian’ Malykhin ‘I’ll take your head’ ONE Winter Warriors II will be co-headlined by a bantamweight scrap between the division’s former champ and Kingad’s Team Lakay stablemate, Kevin Belingon. The 34-year-old Filipino (20-8) will look to get back on track after a pair of losses to Bibiano Fernandes and a knockout at the hands of John Lineker, when he takes on South Korea’s “Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il (10-3), who is riding wins over Bruno Pucci and Rui Chen. Other highlights of the card include a 95kg catchweight bout between former middleweight champion Vitaly Bigdash (10-2) and rising Chinese talent Fan Rong (14-2), and a welterweight bout between the division’s former king Zebaztian Kadestam (12-6) and unbeaten Russian talent Murad Ramazanov (10-0). The event will also include a compelling bantamweight showdown between No 3-ranked contender Yusup Saadulaev of Russia (20-5), and rising Filipino star Mark Stephen Loman (14-2), another Team Lakay fighter. The event will be kicked off by a bantamweight battle between Team Lakay’s Jhanlo Mark Sangiao (3-0) and Indonesia’s Paul Lumihi (7-5). Details surrounding ONE’s January 14 card, which will kick off the promotion’s 2022 calendar, have not yet been revealed.
