Japan’s Yuya Wakamatsu has his sights set on Adriano Moraes and the ONE Championship flyweight title.

Wakamatsu, 26, returned to action at ONE: Winter Warriors on Friday in Singapore, taking on China’s Hu Yong. The Japanese knockout artist was the picture of excellence in the bout, earning a unanimous decision victory with his patented power punches and, more notably, a procession of impressive takedowns.

It was the first time we’ve seen Wakamatsu apply such a grappling-heavy strategy in a fight, and he seems pleased with the result.

“In my previous bouts basically I was only showing my striking, and I was able to win, but I felt it was also important to improve my ground game to go that next level,” Wakamatsu (15-4) told the Post immediately after his victory.

“This was the first bout that I mixed my striking and my ground games, which went well.”

“I’m just glad that I was able to win again, to be honest,” he added.
