Reinier de Ridder is eager to get back to action and has called out a host of his fellow ONE Championship stars in an effort to make it happen. The 31-year-old “Dutch Knight” (14-0) has not fought since April, when he captured the ONE light heavyweight title with a decision win over Aung La N Sang. It was his second victory in a row over “The Burmese Python”, after beating his rival by first-round submission to take the middleweight title in October 2020. De Ridder is evidently getting the itch to fight again, having made a host of call-outs on Instagram this week in an effort to set up his next challenge. The Kyrgyzstani star (23-4) has gone even longer without a fight than the Dutchman, having not fought since he defended his title with a knockout of James Nakashima in November 2020. Next, the Dutchman looked outside his sport completely, challenging Hong Kong-based heavyweight Alain Ngalani to a Muay Thai bout. “In MMA this would be way too easy but maybe you can last a round in Muay Thai,” the two-division champion wrote to Ngalani (4-6, two no contests), who is riding stoppage losses to Oumar Kane and Mauro Cerilli in MMA competition. Ngalani seemed receptive to the idea, too. “One thing is for sure you got balls! Kickboxing or Muay Thai I’m sure @onechampionship heard you. Bring it ! Ngalani wasn’t the only heavyweight on de Ridder’s radar. In a third post, the Dutchman called out Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida. The Brazilian (2-0) is considered one of the best submission grapplers of all time, and after MMA wins over Anderson “Braddock” Silva and Kang Ji-won, is now one of the top heavyweight contenders in the Asian promotion. De Ridder also sneaked in a jab at ONE heavyweight champion Arjan Bhullar (11-1), who he has called out previously to no avail. ONE: Buchecha says heavyweight title shot ‘wouldn’t make sense’ “Since I can’t get a middleweight or light heavyweight fight, let’s try heavyweight,” he wrote. “[Bhullar] is running so how about [Buchecha].” De Ridder wrapped things up by offering to fight ONE flyweight contender Demetrious Johnson and flyweight Muay Thai champion Rodtang at the same time, but we can safely assume that post was written in jest.
