Tyson Fury has reiterated his interest in a money-spinning. boxing match with Francis Ngannou – and the feeling is mutual, it seems.
UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou defended his title with a unanimous decision victory over Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270 on Saturday night in Anaheim, California.
“The Gypsy King” – boxing’s lineal heavyweight champion – was clearly tuned in for the fight, and later invited 35-year-old Cameroonian (17-3) in a Twitter post to “make some real money” facing him.
“The Predator” and his CAA Sports management team are locked in a contract dispute with the UFC.
Ngannou’s win over Gane was technically the last obligation on his current deal with the promotion, however a championship clause in his contract will ensure he cannot take his services elsewhere until December, when he expects to become a free agent.
Among Ngannou’s demands are the freedom to compete in professional boxing. He has expressed particular interest in a boxing match with Fury – and responded to the Briton’s tweet on Sunday with a mocked up fight poster suggesting they will meet in 2022.
Money is also a central part of the heavyweight champion’s gripe with the UFC.
