ONE Championship CEO and chairman Chatri Sityodtong has joined the chorus of fighters and fans defending Joe Rogan after recent criticism. The UFC commentator and podcast host has come under fire in the last few weeks. A petition was signed by 270 doctors last month, to put pressure on Spotify to tackle Covid-19 vaccine misinformation on Rogan’s hugely-popular show, The Joe Rogan Experience . Legendary musician Neil Young then told the platform to remove his songs in protest of Rogan, who pledged to “balance things out” with the guests on his show, and more thoroughly research his topics of discussion. But a video compilation of Rogan using the N-word on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience , multiple times surfaced on social media this month, with Spotify removing the relevant episodes. The video has drawn castigation, with Rogan apologising but insisting the clip takes his usage of the N-word out of context. “I love Joe Rogan. I don’t believe he is a racist,” Chatri told the Post . “He’s obviously a phenomenal martial artist, but he is a good, good person with a good heart, and at the end of the day, everyone is human. ONE: Pacio enjoying Brooks trash talk, open to title fight “Everyone makes mistakes, and the fact Joe has come out and apologised for two different things in the last couple of weeks just shows his intellectual honesty, his humility, and his willingness to learn from his mistakes. “So I’m a big fa of Joe. Always will be. I love his stuff. I love how he shares incredible stories and people with the world across a variety of subject matters. So I’m a big Joe Rogan fan. I stand with Joe.” Asian martial arts promotion ONE’s chief Chatri, who lives in Singapore, was set to appear on The Joe Rogan Experience – which is based out of Rogan’s Texas home – in 2020 before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, but is hoping to reschedule soon. “He invited me a few times already,” Chatri said. “But I’m not gonna fly all the way to the US just to do a podcast – I have to fly for real business reasons. “So after we announce our US broadcast deal in the next few weeks there will be a reason to go to the US, so Joe and I will finally get together. “I haven’t said what date, but I said [to Rogan] when I’m in the States next I will ping you well in advance.”
