ONE Championship 156 weigh-in results: Smilla Sundell misses weight, Regian Eersel and Bokang Masunyane fail hydration tests
- Three of the biggest stars on the ONE 156 line-up ran into trouble at the ceremonial weigh-ins for the Friday event in Singapore
- All three will have the opportunity to weigh-in and pass hydration tests again at 9am local time on Friday morning

Three of the biggest stars on the line-up for Friday’s ONE Championship 156 event in Singapore ran into issues at the event’s ceremonial weigh-ins on Thursday evening – but there is no cause for concern just yet.
Like most combat sports organisations, ONE weighs its fighters 24 hours out from their fights. Yet the Asian martial arts organisation also takes the unique step of measuring its fighters’ hydration levels two times in the lead-up to their bouts, in an effort to curb the dangerous practice of extreme weight-cutting.
At the ONE 156 ceremonial weigh-in, it was revealed that lightweight kick-boxing champion Regian Eersel, who will defend his title against Germany’s Arian Sadikovic in the event’s headlining attraction, failed his second pre-fight hydration test.
So too did No 1 strawweight MMA contender Bokang Masunyane of South Africa, who will battle the division’s No 2 contender Jarred Brooks on the main card with a crack at champion Joshua Pacio on the line.
The 17-year-old Swede Smilla Sundell, set to challenge Filipino-American star Jackie Buntan for the organisation’s inaugural strawweight Muay Thai title in the event’s co-headliner, passed her pre-fight hydration tests, but missed weight by one pound.
Undercard fighter Woo Sung-hoon of South Korea also failed his hydration test for his flyweight MMA fight with Brazil’s Windson Ramos.
