ONE Championship 159: Danial Williams believes Zelang Zhaxi win will put him on ‘right path’ to becoming two-sport world champ
- Williams faces Zelang in strawweight MMA fight on main card of ONE Championship 159 on July 22 in Singapore
- The 29-year-old Australian also competes in Muay Thai, and hopes to win ONE titles in both sports in ‘next two to three years’

Danial Williams is trusting the journey ahead of his fight with China’s Zelang Zhaxi.
The 29-year-old Australian will meet the Chinese talent in a strawweight fight on the main card of the ONE Championship 159 event on July 22 in Singapore, and is eagerly awaiting the opportunity.
“I cannot wait to bang on, man,” he told the Post last week.
Williams, who is extremely experienced in Muay Thai and now 5-1 in MMA, is riding an impressive decision victory over Japanese grappler Namiki Kawahara back in April. After that win, he called for a fight with Filipino striker Jeremy Miado, who was ranked in ONE’s strawweight top five at the time.
That call-out went unanswered, and Williams was instead offered a fight with Zelang (16-6-1), who is not only unranked, but making his ONE debut.
But you will not hear the Aussie complaining.

“I was just really happy to get a fight,” he said with a laugh. “I just want to get more experience in the MMA side because I think there’s still things to work on.
