ONE Championship 159: Lea Bivins trashes ‘loser’ Zeba Bano after fight cancellation in social media blast

  • Bivins and Bano were set to clash at Friday’s ONE 159 event in Singapore, but the fight fell through after the Indian missed weight
  • American has been making no secret of her disappointment, calling her would-be foe a ‘loser’ in a scathing social media attack

American mixed martial arts prospect Lea Bivins has a bone to pick with India’s Zeba Bano, and she is not making any secret of it.

The pair were set to meet in an atomweight clash in the opening bout of Friday’s ONE Championship 159 event in Singapore. It was not only Bivins’ ONE debut, but her first professional fight.

But the fight was cancelled at the eleventh hour, after Bano missed weight and then withdrew from the card, and Bivins has been very vocal in her disappointment.

“Zeba Bano decided on fight day to pull out last minute and not fight me on the ONE Championship 159 card,” the 19-year-old wrote on Instagram after the fight fell through. “I could see last night [at the weigh-ins] she was mentally not ready for this fight as well as physically.”

“I could see the fear and loser vibes in your face last night,” she wrote in a second post, tagging her would-be opponent.

At this stage, it is not clear whether ONE intends to reattempt booking a fight between Bivins and Bano (1-1), or if the promotion will take different directions with the two atomweight stars. However, there is clearly some lingering hostility between them.

Whomever Bivins meets in her MMA debut, she will step into the ONE Circle with plenty of hype behind her.

While she trains out of House of Moons Jiu Jitsu in California, she has also trained with reigning ONE atomweight queen Angela Lee and her siblings Christian and Victoria, both ONE stars as well.

“They’re beasts out there,” Bivins told the Post last month. “They definitely have a whole different training camp. They definitely push the pace. It’s a really hard room to be in. There’s great competitors.

“You’re with Christian Lee, Angela Lee, Victoria Lee, even [youngest brother] Adrian Lee. They’re all an amazing martial arts family. It was amazing to get that experience and that confidence.”
