The Lee family have reportedly “permanently closed” their United MMA Hawaii gym following the death of Victoria Lee aged 18. The ONE Championship atomweight, who went 3-0 in her brief career, died on December 26 in Hawaii. Her death was confirmed on Saturday by her elder sister Angela Lee, who is ONE’s atomweight MMA champion. Combat sports podcast host Todd Atkins tweeted on Sunday that United MMA had sent out notices to members, stating that “all memberships will be cancelled, and students will no longer be billed moving forward”. It is unclear if the gym will reopen again in the future. The gym was founded by, and is owned and run by, the Lee family in Waipahu, and provides classes for adults and children in mixed martial arts and jiu jitsu. Victoria Lee was coached by her father Ken Lee, who has also guided the careers of his other children, 26-year-old Angela, 24-year-old Christian – ONE’s lightweight and welterweight MMA champion – as well as their 17-year-old brother Adrian, who won an amateur title in Hawaii just days before Victoria’s death. Angela Lee and her husband Bruno Pucci, who also competes in ONE, had opened the United BJJ Hawaii gym in Waipio in 2021, where they are both instructors.
