ONE Championship: Mikey Musumeci leg lock leaves Gantumur Bayanduuren with torn ACL, MCL, meniscus and broken ankle
- Musumeci defended flyweight submission grappling belt with decision over Bayanduuren at ONE Fight Night 6 on Saturday
- Champ says he felt his opponent’s knee ‘rip like cardboard’ during an 8-minute leg lock attempt – ‘this was the most disgusting feeling ever’

ONE Championship submission grappling star Mikey Musumeci left his latest opponent with serious injuries, despite failing to get the tap.
The Singapore-based American, the promotion’s reigning flyweight champ, met Mongolian sambo specialist Gantumur Bayanduuren in a 10-minute match at Saturday’s ONE Fight Night 6 event in Bangkok, Thailand.
He spent most of that time attacking a leg lock, and seemed to be on the verge of a submission victory at several points as his foe’s knee bent at nauseating angles, but was forced to settle for his unanimous decision win when Bayanduuren refused to tap.
Bayanduuren is most likely regretting his decision to gut it out.
Musumeci’s leg lock attempt left the Mongolian with a torn ACL, MCL, meniscus and broken ankle, a source told the Post. Those injuries are expected to keep the vanquished challenger out of competition for at least a year.
The champion, 26, would have preferred his opponent simply accepted defeat.
“I continued to apply breaking pressure on his leg about eight minutes straight,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.
