ONE Championship: Stamp Fairtex to fight Alyse Anderson at promotion’s US debut in Denver

  • No 1-ranked Thai will look for second straight MMA win against unranked American Anderson at May 5 event in, Colorado
  • Stamp seemingly snubs chance to fight Anissa Meksen for the interim atomweight kickboxing title after Bangkok weigh-in drama

Stamp Fairtex is headed to the United States.

The Thai MMA star will meet American Alyse Anderson in an atomweight MMA clash at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 in Denver, Colorado – the promotion’s first event on US soil.

ONE announced the fight, which will land on the event’s main card, early on Saturday morning.

It will be a fairly quick turnaround for Stamp (9-2).

The 25-year-old was last in action at ONE Fight Night 6 in Bangkok earlier this month, when she defeated fellow Thai Supergirl Jaroonsak by split decision in a short-notice strawweight kickboxing clash.

She had originally been set to meet striking specialist Anissa Meksen in a special rules bout at the event, but was forced to recalibrate when Meksen did not show up for the pre-fight weigh-ins.

In her next most recent fight, Stamp defeated Jihin Radzuan by unanimous decision in an atomweight MMA contest. The win reaffirmed her as ONE’s’s No 1-ranked atomweight MMA contender.

Stamp Fairtex lands a counter right hand on Supergirl Jaroonsak at ONE Fight Night 6.

Stamp has fought for the atomweight title once before, losing by submission to champion Angela Lee in March of 2022. However, she got her hands on a ONE belt when she won the promotion’s atomweight grand prix in 2021.

Anderson (6-2) was last in action at ONE 157 in May of last year, when she defeated India’s Asha Roka with a first-round triangle choke. Before that, the 28-year-old lost a unanimous decision to Japan’s Itsuki Hirata.

She is not currently ranked in the atomweight top 5, but an upset win over Stamp would undoubtedly change that.

ONE Fight Night 10 will be topped by a flyweight MMA title fight, as reigning champion Demetrious Johnson – widely considered the best fighter of all time – defends his belt against former champ Adriano Moraes.

It will be the third time the American has met Brazil’s Moraes. They split their first two fights, with Moraes winning the first by knockout in 2021, and Johnson evening the score with a knockout of his own in their 2022 rematch.

Former UFC star Sage Northcutt will also return to the ONE Circle on the card. He will take on Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba at lightweight. It will be his first fight since he suffered a brutal knockout loss to Cosmo Alexander in his ONE debut.

ONE Fight Night 10 will air on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service in the US.
