ONE Championship: Aung La N Sang to fight China’s Fan Rong at US debut in Denver

  • Former two-division MMA champion will return at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 in Denver, Colorado – the promotion’s first event on US soil
  • ‘The Burmese Python’ will be looking for third straight win after first-round stoppages of Yushin Okami and Gilberto Galvao

Aung La N Sang will predictably be a part of ONE Championship’s first event in the United States, set for May 5 in Denver, Colorado.

“The Burmese Python” – a former two-division MMA champion in the promotion and one of its biggest stars – will meet China’s Fan Rong in a middleweight clash on the main card of the event, titled ONE Fight Night 10.

ONE revealed the match-up early on Friday morning.

N Sang, 37, formerly ruled as ONE’s middleweight and light heavyweight MMA champ, but lost both titles back-to-back to Dutch grappler Reinier de Ridder in 2020 and 2021.

He split his next two fights, first knocking out Leandro Ataides, then losing a decision to long time rival Vitaly Bigdash, but has won his last two, knocking out Yushin Okami in November and Gilberto Galvao in January – both in the first round.

Fan, 29, will be returning from a lay-off of over a year, having not fought since he was submitted by Bigdash in December, 2021. Before that loss, the Chinese fighter (19-3) was riding a decision win over Yuri Simoes and a second-round stoppage win over Sherif Mohamed.

ONE Fight Night 10 will be headlined by a flyweight MMA title trilogy rematch between American champion Demetrious Johnson and Brazilian challenger Adriano Moraes.

The pair have met twice before, posting a knockout win apiece.

No. 1-ranked atomweight MMA contender Stamp Fairtex, one of Thailand’s biggest fighting stars, will also return to action on the card, taking on unranked American Alyse Anderson.

Former UFC star Sage Northcutt will also make his long-awaited return to the ONE Circle in Denver, taking on Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight MMA clash. It will be the American’s first fight since a brutal knockout loss to Cosmo Alexander in his ONE debut in 2019.
