You come at “The King”, you best not miss.
Indonesia’s Eko Roni Saputra found that out the hard way, seeing his seven-fight MMA win streak in ONE Championship snapped by the Filipino flyweight contender Danny Kingad last weekend in Bangkok.
But No 3 is not enough for the Team Lakay stalwart, who wants the winner of May 5’s rematch between the two men he is sandwiched between in the top five – the former champion Kairat Akhmetov, and Australia’s Reece “Lightning” McLaren.
“I think I will stay at No 3 and I’ll wait for the next one,” he told the Post after his win in Thailand. “Whoever wins with Kairat and Reece, I’m gonna be ready for that.”
Akhmetov and McLaren will serve as a taster for the main event of the Fight Night 10 event in Colorado – ONE’s on-ground US debut – where legendary champ Demetrious Johnson will contest a trilogy with Adriano Moraes.
