ONE Championship: Phetjeeja likes ‘Thais keeping belts’ but will fight Stamp Fairtex ‘if we really have to’
- After Rodtang and Superlek backed off from their super-fight, ONE Championship fans may be left waiting on seeing another dream match-up
- ‘Foreign athletes are spectacular, and we have less female fighters in Thailand. So if we can keep the belts to ourselves that’s good,’ Phetjeeja says

Rising star Phetjeeja Ormeekhun insists she would fight Stamp Fairtex “if we really have to” – but is also happy to see “Thais keep the belts” in ONE Championship.
Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Rodtang Jitmuangnon, ONE’s flyweight kickboxing and Muay Thai champions respectively, have both seemingly backed down from their date with destiny, out of a similar pronounced desire to see their countrymen succeed in the martial arts promotion.
Atomweight striking phenom Phetjeeja, 21, is seemingly on a collision course with Stamp, who is currently chasing MMA gold but has also expressed her intention to win back the Muay Thai and kickboxing belts she used to hold.
However, ONE fans may be left waiting on seeing another dream match-up in the ring.
“I agree with Superlek actually,” Phetjeeja, who will make her ONE debut against Lara Fernandez in Bangkok on Saturday, said. “It would good if I did get the chance to fight with her [Stamp]. It’s not that I’m picky or anything.
“But I also think it’s great to keep the belts with Thai people, because foreign athletes are spectacular, they are great fighters, and we have less female fighters in Thailand.
