Joe Rogan has lauded the “amazing” ONE Championship’s Friday Fights 34 main event between “two masters of the art” in Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmookao, as CEO Chatri Sityodtong touted over “100 million viewers” for the blockbuster Muay Thai bout.
“Out of all the combat sports out there, Muay Thai has the biggest untapped potential in the western world,” Rogan wrote in an Instagram post after the fight.
“The talent is there, the excitement is off the charts. I think it’s just going to take the right organisation with deep pockets to make it as huge as it deserves to be over here.
“Absolutely amazing fight between two masters of the art at ONE Championship!”
Rogan’s interest in the super fight was seemingly shared by many in the US, where it captured plenty of eyeballs and trended high on social media platforms.
“When I was a kid growing up in Thailand, I could never have imagined that Muay Thai at Lumpinee Stadium would trend No 2 in the US on Twitter,” Chatri said.
“It also trended No 11 worldwide on YouTube during the fights. My heart is filled with gratitude. I promise you that my team and I are just getting started.”
Chatri also touted that ONE Friday Fights 34 had over 200 million total viewers across all broadcast platforms on television and digital around the world.
He said he expected that final numbers later this week could be as high as 200 million.
“It shattered every historical viewership record for the sport of Muay Thai by an unprecedented margin,” he added.
