After missing the whole of 2023 Liam Nolan has been a busy man this year, and will fight for a second time on Saturday at ONE Fight Night 19.
Less than five weeks after record a unanimous decision win over Ali Aliev, the Englishman will be back in the ring, taking on Nauzet Trujillo in a lightweight Muay Thai contest.
And while some fighters prefer a longer gap between bouts, Nolan told the Post he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“This is what I wanted, to get the momentum back after some time out,” he said. “Straight back in there. I feel good off the back of that win and I’m ready to go again.
“Most people need a break after their fight but not me, I’m straight back in there.”


Despite not finishing Aliev at ONE Fight Night 18 last month, Nolan said he was pleased with the way that bout went, and the “power, speed, performance overall” gave him a platform to build on.
Under ONE Championship’s ruleset Muay Thai fighters always wear MMA gloves. They are significantly smaller than the type usually used in the sport and Nolan thinks this plays into his strengths.
“I feel like I’m hitting so hard in these gloves if he [Trujillo] is coming forwards he’s going to walk into a big shot and a finish will come.”
Nolan’s friend and teammate Jonathan Haggerty is competing in the main event in Bangkok, and the Englishman feels that British fighters are starting to take the Muay Thai scene by storm.
If he can make it three wins in a row at ONE Fight Night 19, then Nolan believes it will be time to talk about lightweight title shots, and has current champion Regian Eersel in his sights.
“I believe I’m the man to do it [beat Eersel],” he said. “We want that fight, we’re building towards it, maybe this year or early next year.”
Nolan would have been well within his rights to demand a break after last month’s win, and there is no doubt the 26-year-old enjoys the battle.
“I feel so strong in training,” he said. “I’m just going to let it go and enjoy it.”
