In one of the more innovate – and frightening – finishes in recent UFC memory, Brazil’s Jessica Andrade knocked out Rose Namajunas with a body slam onto her head to win the strawweight title on home soil.

It was just the 11th KO via slam in UFC history, and fourth in a title fight – and there was some question among fans and media as to whether Andrade should have been disqualified for the move.

But the slam in the second round was perfectly legal within the rules given it had an arc, and was not a straight spike slam, and Namajunas – who did not go to hospital – was reportedly gracious about the loss.

However, “Thug Rose” hinted she could now walk away from the Octagon describing losing the title as “a huge pressure off my shoulders”.

Asked in the post-fight press conference if she wanted an immediate rematch for the title, she said: “I just want to do something else with my life right now.”
