There are big things looming on the horizon for the UFC in China with the opening of the organisation’s Performance Institute Shanghai on June 20 and then UFC Fight Night 157 in Shenzhen on August 31.

But Yan “Fury” Xiaonan is a little more concerned with the right here and the right now. The 29-year-old Chinese strawweight makes her debut in the United States this weekend as part of theUFC 238: Cejudo vs Moraes card in Chicago, taking with her a 3-0 run in the UFC, a lifetime record of 10-1 (with one no contest) and an unbeaten streak overall that dates back to her one and only loss in 2010.

“I feel no pressure fighting in the US,” Yan tells the Post from Chicago. “I’m very confident with my striking. I’ve already had three fights in UFC now. I think I’m having more recognition now.

“When people come to my gym, they are like ‘Oh, I know you’. The UFC is getting bigger and bigger in China. I think if I keep winning, I may become famous one day.”

Yan is up against American Angela “Overkill” Hill (9-6), down among the preliminaries, but she’ll get a first-hand look at what life is like at the top of the game.
