The Japanese Formula One Grand Prix set for October 10 has been cancelled as the country battles spiralling Covid-19 cases, organisers confirmed on Wednesday.

This marks the second year running that the Suzuka Circuit meeting has been cancelled and Japan follows Australia and China in cancelling this year’s races.

Mie prefecture, where Suzuka is located, has imposed a quasi-state of emergency.
