The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a contract with free agent Jeremy Lin.
Though the move cannot be announced until Thursday, Lin posted a picture on his Instagram page of himself photoshopped into a Hornets strip and confirmed the move on Facebook.
"Going into my first true free agency as an NBA player this off-season, the one thing that mattered to me the most was finding a team that would be a good fit for me," he wrote.
"I wanted to be on a team where I would be able to play freely and truly play the game I love with joy again. That has always been the most important thing to me. After a LOT of prayer and long discussions with family and friends, I wanted to personally let you guys know I'll be joining the Charlotte Hornets.
"I have no idea what is coming next, but I promise I will do everything in my power to contribute to this team and to improve as a player and as a person."

Lin is entering his sixth NBA season. He had a brief but memorable stint with the New York Knicks in 2012 and also played for the Warriors, Rockets and Lakers.
The 26-year-old Lin played in 74 games last season for the Lakers, averaging 11.2 points and 4.6 assists. He shot 42.4 percent from the field and 36.9 per cent from 3-point range.
He’s expected to back up point guard Kemba Walker in Charlotte.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Lin shoots 43.9 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from beyond the arc. Walker shoots 39.5 percent overall and 31.8 percent on 3s.
It’s the latest move by general manager Rich Cho, who has worked hard to revamp the roster after the team failed to make the playoffs last season.
Among the other new faces on the Hornets’ roster this season include Nicolas Batum, Spencer Hawes, Jeremy Lamb and rookie Frank Kaminsky, the national player of the year in college last season.
Lin earned immense popularity with the Knicks during the “Linsanity” craze. After being claimed off waivers, Lin made his way into the starting lineup following a slew of injuries. He became the first NBA player to have at least 20 points and seven assists in his first five games.
The following year the Knicks allowed Lin to walk in free agency after the Rockets signed him to a three-year, $25 million contract. He spent two seasons in Houston before being traded to the Lakers.
