Super Bowl 53: Tom Brady claims record sixth title after New England Patriots beat Los Angeles Rams 13-3
- Sony Michel bursts through in the fourth quarter for the only touchdown of the game as the Patriots’ NFL dynasty continues to rule
Quarterback Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to a sixth NFL Super Bowl title since 2001 after an attritional 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta, where defences dominated.
With the teams locked 3-3 in the fourth quarter, the 41-year-old Brady handed off to Sony Michel who burst through the middle on an two-yard run to score the only touchdown of the game.
Kicker Steve Gostkowski slotted through from 41 yards with 1:12 left to seal the Vince Lombardi trophy for New England.
It was the Patriots 11 appearance in the NFL’s season climax and first Super Bowl triumph since the 2016-17 season.
“It’s been an unbelievable year and unbelievable to win this game,” said Brady. “The Rams played we really well they worked their butts off and had great plans and made it tough on every play.
