American boxer Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller has failed a second drugs test, according to US media reports on Friday.
This means that Miller’s fight with Britain’s Anthony Joshua, scheduled for June, will definitely not go ahead. Miller had been refused a boxing licence by officials in New York after a failed drugs test on Wednesday.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn wrote of the announcement of Miller’s second failed test on Twitter on Friday.
Hearn confirmed that combat sports’ anti-doping agency Vada had confirmed the failed test and the fight was off.
“AJ’s June 1 opponent will be announced next week – if you don’t think you can beat him clean then delete my number!”

While Miller will not extend his 24-fight unbeaten record as a pro at Madison Square Garden on June 1, the Briton is adamant that he will make his US debut as planned. The only question is, who will he fight?
American Michael Hunter is viewed by the bookmakers as the favourite, priced at $2.38 to be Joshua’s next opponent.
The 30-year-old Californian recently signed to Hearn’s Matchroom promotions and is well known by US boxing fans.

Hunter told Love Sport Radio that he is up for the challenge.
“I like the sound of [the Joshua fight]” he said. “It’s heavyweight boxing so any time you get to that weight class, everybody has dynamite in their hands.
“I’ve been training all my life for fights like this so I would not miss the chance to fight Anthony Joshua.”
Britain’s Dillian Whyte is the second favourite with the oddsmakers ($4.33) but he has distanced himself from the fight in his recent column for Talksport Radio’s website.
“Many have called for me to be given the opportunity to go head-to-head against AJ in the last few days after the news broke about Miller,” he wrote. “This looks unlikely though.”

Whyte went on to explain that he spoke to Hearn on Wednesday but was told he would not be ready in time for June 1, even though he offered to take the fight.
Despite mentioning Hunter as someone that “could fit the bill” as a possible opponent for Joshua, Whyte thinks it will be someone else.
“I think Joshua will end up fighting Manuel Charr now, though.”
Germany’s Charr is priced at $5.50 by the bookmakers alongside Cuba’s Luis Ortiz.
WBA regular title holder Charr revealed that he has been in talks over replacing Miller in a post on his Instagram.

“Internal negotiations are taking place regarding the fight in June Mahmoud Charr against Anthony Joshua,” the boxer wrote.
“I am very happy about this task and the challenge. I’m ready to go to fight against Joshua and bring home the victory.”
He later posted a photograph of himself stood outside Madison Square Garden with a caption goading Joshua.

Other possible opponents mentioned have been Poland’s Adam Kownacki ($8), Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker.
The British pair of Derek Chisora and Tyson Fury, both at $17, are considered outsiders.
