Jeremy Lin’s 28 points not enough as Beijing Ducks dealt huge upset by struggling Fujian Sturgeons
- Lin drops 28 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Ducks’ three-game winning streak ends in Fujian
- Former Nuggets star Ty Lawson grabs double-double to lead 4-12 Sturgeons to memorable win
Jeremy Lin’s Beijing Ducks were dealt a massive upset by Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) bottom-half side Fujian Sturgeons on Thursday.
Former NBA star Lin scored a team-high 28 points with eight rebounds and seven assists but was outshone by Sturgeons star and ex-Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson.
Lawson’s double-double of 29 points, 13 assists and five rebounds led the 4-12 Sturgeons to a memorable win as the Ducks broke their three-game winning streak in Zhuchang Gymnasium.
Beijing led at the end of the first quarter but then the form-book went out of the window soon after. Last year’s league MVP Wang Zhelin contributed 27 points to the Sturgeons’ surprise win.
The 31-year-old Lin, who made a name for himself during the 2011-12 NBA play-offs with the New York Knicks, was mobbed by Fujian fans pre and postgame.
