Hong Kong swim star Siobhan Haughey put up another 4x100m freestyle relay win as International Swimming League champions Energy Standard took control of their semi-final on day one.

The team of Haughey, Pernille Blume, Femke Heemskerk, and day one MVP Sarah Sjostrom finished in 3:25.82 to maintain their dominance in the event this season.

That time at the Duna Arena in Budapest is an unofficial world record for the fastest by a team of mixed nationalities.

It was Energy Standard’s fourth win of day one but Haughey could not add another individual win in the 400m free, which would have been a third of the season in the distance.

Haughey lost to the unbeaten Leah Smith, who beat the Hongkonger to the wall in 3:58.26.

“I knew that if I wanted a best time, I had to take it out with Siobhan and then have a good back end,” Smith said. “It didn’t go as well at the start, so I was counting on my back half to finish it.”
