Ng On-yee failed in her quest to win the 2026 WSF Women’s Championship, losing 4-0 in the final to reigning world champion Bai Yulu of China on Friday night.

Defeat in Bulgaria also cost the Hongkonger the opportunity to claim the world No 1 spot, with Bai leapfrogging Thai player Mink Nutcharut at the top of the global standings following her whitewash victory.

Bai, who has already won the UK Championship, Niche Cues Open and Irish Open in the first half of the season, did not lose a single frame in the tournament.

In the group stage, Ng won four out of five matches, her only loss also inflicted by Bai.

The 35-year-old let slip a commanding position in the opening frame of the final, Bai recovering from needing a snooker with two reds left on the table to clear from yellow to black and pinch it by two points.

Breaks of 48 and 45 allowed Bai to comfortably claim the next frame. The third and fourth were nip-and-tuck affairs, but the 22-year-old mainlander edged both to wrap up her 39th straight match victory and eighth career title.
