Tia-Clair Toomey cruised to her fourth straight CrossFit Games title in easily the toughest event in the sport’s existence.

Her run of ‘Fittest on Earth’ titles is a feat unequalled by any other woman. She had victory in the bag with a day to spare but still pushed herself all the way on the final day.

Toomey, who had the title wrapped up at the end of day two, finished with 970 points, a staggering 380 ahead of second-placed Katrin Davidsdottir (590). Haley Adams (525) grabbed the third spot on the podium, followed by Brooke Wells (510) and Kari Pearce (485).

The final event of the day, which Games organiser Dave Castro said would be the hardest ever, lived up to expectations. Called Atalanta, it featured a one-mile run, 100 handstand push-ups, 200 single-leg squats, 300 pull-ups and another one-mile run, all while wearing a weighted vest, which was 14lb for the women. The men and the women lined up together.

While Kari Pearce won, it didn’t matter. Toomey worked out side-by-side with her training partner, none other than five-time men’s champion Mat Fraser.

Adams and Pearce burst out to a lead in the one-mile run ahead of the other women and men, and then Adams was the first to start the handstand push-ups. Pearce then took the lead, given her gymnastics background, as she was first to start the squats.
