Australian Khan Porter is a serious dark horse for the 2021 CrossFit Games
- The 31-year-old openly spoke about mental health struggles throughout his life, and appears on track heading into the Torian Pro from May 28-30
- Porter will compete in his home country for the semi-finals, and could go straight to the 2021 CrossFit Games, which will take place from July 27–August 1

Khan Porter will readily admit the biggest opponent he always faces is himself.
That, though, does not accurately depict where Porter sits in his career. The 2020 CrossFit Games got scaled down due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Porter, who made the online semi-finals as one of the top 30 competitors, could very well have moved up over the course of a regular three- or four-day competition.
But given only the top five athletes made the in-person finale, there was no chance for a dark horse like Porter to sneak to the top of the leader-board.
He admitted in an interview with Morning Chalk Up that after he found out the first part of the 2020 CrossFit Games would be an online competition, where athletes would compete at their own gyms, he lost a degree of motivation.
At that point, in the summer of 2020, not only were the games a serious question mark, but getting from Australia to the US would have been an expensive and draining experience during Covid-19’s initial waves.
