Hong Kong’s Stone Tsang Siu-keung made it look easy in his backyard and Veronika Vadovicova broke the women’s course record in the 19km races at the Goodman Healthy Hike & Run.

Having previously been postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the event went ahead at Tai Lam Country Park in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Sunday, and it was worth the wait for Tsang, who was running in his first proper race since 2019.

He was trailing Leung Siu-pang around the 16km mark but timed his run to perfection, winning in 1 hour, 41 minutes and 46 seconds.

“This is my backyard … I live close by and train here,” Tsang said. “I really enjoyed today with good weather and nice course design. I believe this is my first real race in three years.”
