With special ceremonies and official launches for team kits, Olympic athletes take their look seriously.
And even more so in 2024 with the Games taking place in one of the fashion capitals of the world.
From striking team uniforms to dazzling personal style, there were plenty of fashion statements throughout the Summer Olympics.
And here are some of our favourites.

This one wasn’t even up for discussion: Mongolia eased to the gold medal for style in Paris.
Designed by the Mongolian fashion brand Michel&Amazonka, the intricate outfits incorporated a blend of Olympic and Mongolian symbols, including the Olympic torch, the 2024 Olympic emblem and the peacetime emblem Nine White Banners.
Social media users widely praised the uniforms, as well as American retired sprinter and four-time gold medallist Michael Johnson.

The 10 metres air pistol competition at the Paris Olympics became a hotbed of social media buzz, thanks to two athletes who captured the public’s attention with their distinctive styles.
Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, 51, secured a silver medal while competing with minimal specialised equipment. Wearing only a pair of ordinary black-framed glasses and his white national team jersey, Dikec stood out for his laid-back, “assassin-like” approach, often keeping his left hand casually tucked in his pocket.
His unconventional style drew comparisons to the fictional hitman John Wick, known for his cool demeanour.
Meanwhile, South Korea’s Kim Ye-ji, 31, also became a viral sensation for her “futuristic” look on the range. Wearing a white cap, black jacket, and a pair of cool-looking tailored glasses, Kim was hailed as having “main character energy”.

The gold which stood out for Cheung Ka-long was not just around his neck, as many onlookers noticed his impressive collection of luxury jewellery during his victory over Italy’s Filippo Macchi.
His Van Cleef & Arpels Vintage Alhambra motif, a bracelet with a price tag of HK$39,500 (US$5,057), was a particular point of fascination. The four-leaf clover shape was believed to bring good luck and courage. Another Hong Kong athlete, Tang Chun-man, also wore the same shape bracelet but in a different colour when competing in Paris.
Cheung’s penchant for statement accessories is not new – he wore distinctive bracelets at the Tokyo 2020 Games as well, and often post photos of himself wearing jewellery on social media.

Imagine being a lifeguard at the Olympic Games.
Being on hand in case the planet’s greatest swimmers need help. When will that ever be necessary?
Well, for one nameless individual, it was the Paris Games and he soon became the talk of social media.
During the women’s 100m breaststroke, United States swimmer Emma Weber’s cap needed rescuing.
Up stepped a lifeguard sporting colourful trunks who casually dived into the pool and resurfaced with the cap.
His appearance soon set tongues wagging and fingers typing, while commentators – including Snoop Dogg – affectionately dubbed him “Bob the cap catcher”.

Shooting is clearly where the biggest fashion statements are made.
“A new challenger has entered the ‘bada** women with guns at the Olympics’ competition”, is how one social media user referred to China’s Zhang Qiongyue.
The 20-year-old stood out through her decision to include Hello Kitty stickers on her rifle during the women’s 50m rifle three positions.
While the bright pink bolt handle on Zhang’s rifle also set social media in motion.
Both went well alongside the bronze medal she left Paris with.
