Chinese Gen Z gold medal winners playfully mocked for hilarious social media handles
- Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao clinched the country’s first top podium spots in the 10m air rifle mixed team

As Chinese teenagers Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao clinched the country’s first gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team, it was their hilarious social media handles which also got people’s attention.
The Gen Z pair overcame their South Korean rivals in a 16-12 to claim the gold compatriots Yang Haoran and Yang Qian won in Tokyo three years ago.
But it was not just their stellar performances which had tongues wagging back on the mainland.
Chinese social media users were left chuckling at their funny Weibo names, with Sheng’s translating to “just relying on eating to …”
After the teenagers secured the gold, a trending tag, “#Just relying on eating to win the gold,” was trending on Weibo – a nod to the 19-year-old’s handle.

When state media announced the victory, the playful nature of Sheng’s handle added a funny twist to their post: “The Chinese duo Huang Yuting … and Sheng Lihao @just relying on eating to win the gold, this is the Chinese team’s first gold in this year’s Games!”
