A racetrack groundskeeper got the shock of her life and showed amazing dash this morning at Sha Tin when faced with the sight of seven thoroughbreds hurtling in her direction.
The female worker was replacing divots on the main turf track between barrier trials, seemingly unaware that a 1,600m heat was in progress.
That feeling when you're minding your own business just filling in divots and a bunch of racehorses turn up out of nowhere ♀️ pic.twitter.com/dTb1HzS30E— Michael Cox (@KemblaCoxy) May 9, 2017
@KemblaCoxy II'm so glad she is ok, but it is funny footage.— Jenny Chapman (@jftpaddock) May 9, 2017
Leading jockeys Zac Purton, on Romantic Touch, and Joao Moreira, on Consort, both spotted the soon-to-be-startled gardener before she spotted horses or heard the thundering hooves.
“Well I think Joao was more worried than me, he was screaming out at her,” Purton said.
“Sure, how else were we going to get her out of the way?” Moreira said. “That poor woman, I’m just glad she was okay.”
