Recap by phillip woo

Short-priced favourite Smart Giant travelled a handy fourth along the inside, was held up soon after straightening, angled out for a clear run passing the 300m and produced an explosive turn of foot to win going away at the 80m. He was suited by the light weight, but is headed for much better things. Flying Supreme tracked the sluggish pace of Hollywood Kiss in third and one-off the fence, straightened three deep and kept on gamely to hold Familists for second. Familists travelled with cover three back and one-off the fence, hit the straight four deep and stayed on well to make it close for the runner-up spot. Outdoor Pegasus was never better than three deep second from the rear, rounded the final bend six wide and finished off well. Win Practitioner bided his time at the rear as expected, swung the final bend widest out and made some ground without threatening. He's worth keeping safe over a longer trip. Adoration handed up the lead to Hollywood Kris after breaking alertly, straightened near the top upon straightening and was a beaten runner at the 100m in a disappointing effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (007) - COTTON TREE HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1400 Meters After being loaded, ROYAL PUMPKIN became fractious.

Before being allowed to race again, ROYAL PUMPKIN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

WIN PRACTITIONER was slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, TREASURE GOLD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

After the 900 Metres, ROYAL PUMPKIN was left racing wide and without cover.

In the early part of the Straight, TREASURE GOLD was disappointed for running inside SMART GIANT.

Then near the 300 Metres, TREASURE GOLD was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART GIANT which was being shifted out to obtain clear running.

SMART GIANT was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres.

When questioned, D Whyte stated that after travelling well throughout the race, ADORATION responded well to his riding when placed under pressure after the 400 Metres.

He said however that passing the 200 Metres ADORATION came under pressure and its run ended shortly after this.

He said although ADORATION was somewhat disappointing over the concluding stages, in his opinion, the horse would benefit from todays race.

A veterinary inspection of ADORATION after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea.

SMART GIANT and FLYING SUPREME were sent for sampling.
