Recap by phillip woo

Double Dragon pinged to the front from gate 14, set a steady pace while circling a length on top and kept finding for the win in his training debut for Derek Cruz. Rock N' Typhoon was a handy fifth and one-off the fence, rallied four wide and finished off well. Iron Hawk bided his time at the rear of the field after going back from gate 11, shifted into the clear six deep at the 250m and let down nicely under a big weight. The lightly raced import appears to have come to hand during the break and was also suited by a drop in grade. Smashing late in the betting, Real General went forward from a wide gate to sit second to the outside of Double Dragon, straightened three deep and gave way over the final 50m. He'll come on for the run and is a chance next time out from a better draw. Bouncer made his run second from the rear and weaved a run late without threatening. He'll strip fitter for two runs and will be hard not to consider in place calculations next over a mile or further. China Dragon settled midfield and two deep, loomed a chance five wide at the 250m, but run came undone inside the final 150m. Favourite Super Horse made his run behind midfield and on the fence after breaking slowly, shifted three deep at the 350m and was short of room 50m out when making a mild bid. Amazing Journey was cast three deep without cover in fourth and was struggling 250m out.
