Recap by phillip woo

Sammy's Falcon, who was fitter for a run, rated nicely worse than midfield and one off the fence, peeled six wide soon after straightening and quickened nicely at the 200m to take control 60m out for the win. Lucky Together worked to the front from gate eight, was pestered by the late-fancied favourite Caga Spirit approaching the 600m, kicked away by a length at the 200m and gave way over the final 100m. It was a nice effort in defeat and he will be winning soon. Par Excellence was tucked away along the fence in third, straightened three deep and stayed on well for a placing. Magic Fighter saved ground in midfield underneath Sammy's Falcon, stuck to the rails upon straightening and kept on well to fill the frame in a much-improved performance. Fastplus Master made his run third from the rear and near the inside, improved his position at the 600m, pushed four d ep at the 300m and was getting going over the final 100m without ever looking a threat of placing. Panther Run was beaten for speed and made his run second from the rear, straightened near the inside and made some ground late without ever threatening. Oyster travelled one-out, one-back, hit the straight four deep and only held his ground over the final 150m with every conceivable chance. Caga Spirit pressed forward to sit outside the leader, cornered in three wide and came up empty when push came to shove over the final 150m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (051) - NAM LONG SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200 Meters Whilst in the saddling stalls, MAGIC FIGHTER had a left front nail replaced.

MAGIC FIGHTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

SWEETIE MUSIC began awkwardly.

From the outside barrier, RAINBOW SEEKER was taken across behind runners at the start.

Despite the efforts of its rider, Apprentice K C Ng, CAGA SPIRIT hung in and away from LUCKY TOGETHER at the 1100 Metres, resulting in SAMMYS FALCON being checked when tightened onto the hindquarters of OYSTER which was also hampered.

PAR EXCELLENCE, which was racing to the inside of OYSTER, was also hampered in this incident.

After this, PAR EXCELLENCE then got its head up when being steadied to allow LUCKY TOGETHER to cross.

When momentarily tightened for room inside PAR EXCELLENCE on the Home Turn, MAGIC FIGHTER made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

LUCKY BOY and NATURAL FLAME raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Z Purton reported that after bumping with LUCKY BOY near the 500 Metres, NATURAL FLAME lost its action and refused to stretch out.

A veterinary inspection of NATURAL FLAME and CAGA SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of OYSTER after the race showed the horse to have a swollen left stifle.
