Favourite Scarlet Camellia broke much better on this occasion to settle one-off the fence in midfield, straightened four deep and quickened nicely to take control 100m out for the win. He's got scope to head higher. Viva Freedom was cast three deep in fourth, swept to the lead from a tiring Double Dragon at the 220m and went down fighting in a much-improved effort with the crossed nose band and tongue-tie removed. Champagne Days was cast deep for a good part of the trip until slotting in with cover at the 600m ahead of midfield, straightened five wide and stayed on nicely for a placing. Viva Fighter came from third last and three deep to fill the frame in fourth at a price. City King settled behind midfield and three deep with cover, rounded the final bend six wide and eventually got going inside the final 100m when the race was al over. Fancied late, Flying Chaparral was never on the track from a wide gate, hit the straight with one wider out and made a steady bid without threatening. Saddlers Lodge saved ground behind midfield, straightened three deep, shifted further into the clear at the 320m and run peaked 100m out. Delish made his run in the second half of the field fourth from the rear and one-off the fence, hit the straight four deep and never let down. All Victory recovered after a tardy break to settle fourth along the fence passing the 800m, but had nothing to offer inside the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven: (083) - LARK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400 Meters CLASSIC BOY was slow to begin.

ALL VICTORY was slow to begin and shortly after the start was bumped by SADDLERS LODGE which itself became unbalanced after being bumped by SUPREME FLIGHT which shifted in when awkwardly placed inside CITY KING.

Near the 100 Metres, SADDLERS LODGE and FLYING CHAPARRAL bumped.

Over the concluding stages, SADDLERS LODGE raced tight between CITY KING and FLYING CHAPARRAL.

Throughout the race, FLYING CHAPARRAL travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DELISH, D Whyte stated that at the horses first up run this season, it had closed off the race strongly when ridden in a rearward position from a wide barrier.

He said having in mind the manner in which DELISH closed off at its last start, it had been decided to ride the horse quietly again today.

He said shortly after the start he shifted DELISH across behind runners and the horse enjoyed a good run throughout the early and middle stages.

He said after obtaining clear running shortly after entering into the Straight, he placed DELISH under pressure, however, the horse failed to respond to his riding as it did at its most recent start and, in his opinion, was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of DELISH after the race did not show any significant findings, however, an endoscopic examination was unable to be performed.

When questioned, G Mossm stated that he had been instructed to position ALL VICTORY behind the anticipated leader, DOUBLE DRAGON.

He said although ALL VICTORY was slow to begin and then received a bump shortly after the start, he was able to improve his position in the early stages to obtain the position as instructed behind DOUBLE DRAGON.

He said his mount then travelled comfortably, however, when asked to improve into a tight run between DOUBLE DRAGON and SUPREME FLIGHT after the 400 Metres, ALL VICTORY was reluctant to improve into the run despite being ridden along.

He added he continued to attempt to place ALL VICTORY between DOUBLE DRAGON and SUPREME FLIGHT, however, the horse would not improve its position and it was only over the concluding stages when SUPREME FLIGHT shifted out that ALL VICTORY improved between those horses.

A veterinary inspection of ALL VICTORY and DOUBLE DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings.

SCARLET CAMELLIA and VIVA FREEDOM were sent for sampling.
