Recap by phillip woo

Well-punted late, Sunshine Boy was hustled to make ground after a usual poor break to settle a handy fifth and three deep at the 600m, swung the final bend four wide, worked to the lead at the 200m and edged clear for a convincing win. Classic Figure was posted three deep battling for the lead, crossed to the fence at the 800m while being hounded by Seize The Day, straightened level for the lead and kept on gamely to hold second in his Class Five debut. He appears capable of landing a winner at this level. Hey Ha Master was rated one-out, one-back after breaking from gate 13, straightened three wide and stayed on well. Specked late, Duke's Victory settled behind midfield and just off the rails, shifted into the clear five wide off the heels of Hey Ha Master at the 20m and ran on well to finish just outside the placings in an improved effort with a drop in grade. Polymer Power was cast off the track fourth from the rear, rounded the final bend widest out and was finishing up with a bit of purpose in an improved effort with 13 points of rating relief during the break. Victory General saved ground in midfield, hit the straight one-off the fence and made some progress before coming up flat over the final 50m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (074) - TAILORBIRD HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200 Meters FAST INTENTIONS and SUNSHINE BOY were slow to begin.

SEIZE THE DAY knuckled over at the start, resulting in its rider, Apprentice M L Yeung, becoming badly unbalanced in the saddle and SEIZE THE DAY losing ground.

Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, VICTORY GENERAL proved very difficult to settle, got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of HEY HA MASTER.

After the 800 Metres, SUNSHINE BOY was left racing wide and without cover.

POLYMER POWER also travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

Near the 750 Metres, FAST INTENTIONS was steadied away from the heels of TYCOON TAYLOR.

Rounding the Home Turn, FLYING KEEPER shifted out and bumped POLYMER POWER.

VICTORY GENERAL had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 100 Metres raced tight between SEIZE THE DAY and CLASSIC FIGURE.

Over the concluding stages, GENERAL DANROAD and FLYING KEEPER raced tight inside POLYMER POWER which shifted in slightly.

In the Straight, FLYING KEEPER got its head on the side and hung out.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PLANET, D Beadman stated that PLANET became more stirred up prior to the start than it did at its first up run this season when successful.

He said after being placed in the barrier stalls, PLANET became very fractious and lunged at the front gates, resulting in the horse beginning awkwardly.

He said after the 700 Metres PLANET proved difficult to settle and had to be steadied away from the heels of DUKES VICTORY.

He added in the Straight he attempted to follow DUKES VICTORY through between runners, however, PLANET did not finish off the race as well as that horse and was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of PLANET after the race did not show any significant findings.

PLANET, SUNSHINE BOY and CLASSIC FIGURE were sent for sampling.
