Recap by phillip woo

Redoute Star made his run in fourth and one-off the fence, rounded the final bend five wide, swept to the lead 200m out and held off the late-surge of Kingston Spartacus and Mount Victory for the win with a return to his pet Sha Tin trip after a couple of Happy Valley failures. Kingston Spartacus was always covering ground behind midfield after breaking from a wide gate, swung the final bend six deep and finished off nicely to come up just short. Firming favourite Mount Victory settled in midfield and two deep with cover, straightened four deep in a bit of traffic, shifted further out at the 300m and stayed on nicely between the top pair. Watch First was still last at the head of the straight and ran on well to fill the frame. Super Strike settled third from the rear, hit the straight with one wider out and was making ground. He needs a race run at a fast clip and a further step up in trip. Prosperity enjoyed the box-seat run, straightened three deep and kept on one-paced. Compact Yarn travelled in second behind the even pace of Mark Good, straightened three deep and only whacked away evenly with every chance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (094) - REVLON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800 Meters Despite being ridden along in the early stages, WATCH FIRST failed to muster speed and raced back in the field.

Near the 1700 Metres, MOUNT VICTORY was steadied away from the heels of REDOUTE STAR which shifted out slightly.

After this, REDOUTE STAR got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied.

After the 200 Metres, CHAMPION MOUNT got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of COMPACT YARN.

Over the final 50 Metres, MOUNT VICTORY raced in restricted room between KINGSTON SPARTACUS and REDOUTE STAR which shifted out.

Throughout the race, KINGSTON SPARTACUS travelled wide and without cover and MARK GOOD got its head on the side and lay out.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WINNING PAL at the request of Trainer C W Chang.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, WINNING PAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MOUNT VICTORY, REDOUTE STAR and KINGSTON SPARTACUS were sent for sampling.
