Recap by phillip woo

Elusive Prince elected to take the sit in second after breaking alertly, worked to the lead two deep at the 250m, repelled a challenge from Fiery Raider at the 100m and edged clear for an overdue win. Fiery Raider was tardy into stride like in his trials, rushed up to settle three deep in a prominent spot at the 1,000m, swung the final bend five wide and finished well before blowing up inside the 50m in a very promising debut performance. El Grande made his run third from the rear, hit the straight five deep and finished with plenty of purpose to overhaul Lucky Boy late for a placing. Lucky Boy was rated ahead of midfield and two deep, straightened three deep and stayed on reasonably well. Shanghai Pioneer settled midfield and two deep, swung the final bend with two wider out, loomed a place chance at the 200m and came up flat inside the final 100m. Good Gains made his run at the rear of the field and was getting going late without threatening. He's clearly better over a longer trip. Favourite Solar Boy travelled worse than midfield and three deep after missing the jump and was never a factor. Global Win was hustled to lead along the fence at the 1,000m, straightened nearly a length on top and gave way over the final 150m. My Whisky saved ground along the fence in a handy position, straightened with every chance along the inside and was stopping at the 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (103) - MUK MIN HA HANDICAP (Sec 2) - Class 4 - 1200 Meters SOLAR BOY blundered at the start and consequently lost ground.

Approaching the 800 Metres, FIERY RAIDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOVEL START.

Throughout the race, NOVEL START travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MY WHISKY, Y T Cheng stated that after beginning awkwardly, he rode his mount along vigorously in the early stages including using the whip on the horse in an endeavour to have it obtain the lead as he was instructed.

He said however that despite his endeavours MY WHISKY was not able to obtain the lead and then travelled only fairly in the middle stages.

He added he placed the horse under pressure prior to the Home Turn, however, MY WHISKY weakened noticeably in the Straight.

Trainer Y S Tsui stated that he had been disappointed with MY WHISKY's races this season and for this reason he attempted to keep the horse fresh in the days leading up to tonight's race.

He said however that MY WHISKY raced very disappointingly and it was now his intention to give the horse a brief let-up.

A veterinary inspection of MY WHISKY after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SOLAR BOY after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained an abrasion to the inside heel of the left front foot.

SOLAR BOY, ELUSIVE PRINCE and FIERY RAIDER were sent for sampling.
