Recap by phillip woo

Healthy Manner was patiently ridden behind midfield and along the rails, stayed to the inside upon straightening, swept to the lead 120m out and held off the late surge of Young Hero for back-to-back wins. Young Hero travelled along the fence in fifth, tracked closer two deep entering the straight, pushed six wide at the 300m and finished off willingly to make it close at the finish. Juggernaut travelled to the outside of Young Hero, drove forward three deep at the 400m, hit the straight widest out and stayed on nicely to grab a placing in a blanket finish for third. Early favourite Goldmen Y Y enjoyed the run of the race in fourth along the fence underneath Bumper Strike, cornered in four deep and kept plugging away without quickening off a big weight. Golden Boy sat outside the surprise leader Vanquish Delight, assumed the lead before the head of the straight and kept on well, despite laying in at the 150m, to just miss a placing. Plunged in the dying moments to start favourite, Happy Cha Cha made his run third from the rear near the inside after a slow break, wasn't quick enough to take the run from Healthy Manner at the 250m and kept on OK three wide over the final 100m. He'll come on for the run. Solar Wonder was hard ridden and never a factor. Drifting late, Mr Marfach made his run second from the rear and two deep and never clicked. Vanquish Delight crawled on the lead with Golden Boy to his outside and was eased down over the final 200m with late-betting support.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (114) - SHAU KEI WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800 Meters BILLION was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, BILLION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SOLAR WONDER, which was leaning against the outside of its stall, was slow to begin and then despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed.

HOW WONDERFUL and HAPPY CHA CHA were slow to begin.

Approaching the 600 Metres, JUGGERNAUT and YOUNG HERO raced tight due to YOUNG HERO shifting to the outside of GOLDMEN Y Y.

When questioned, Apprentice C Y Ho stated that he had been instructed to obtain a position behind the leaders if possible on VANQUISH DELIGHT.

He said he rode his mount along in the early stages so as to take up a forward position, however, when he attempted to steady VANQUISH DELIGHT, the horse commenced to over-race and would not come back underneath him as he expected.

He said he continued to try and steady VANQUISH DELIGHT to allow runners to his outside to improve their positions, however, when neither BUMPER STRIKE nor GOLDEN BOY pressed for the lead, VANQUISH DELIGHT, which was continuing to over-race, was left racing in front.

He said after this VANQUISH DELIGHT continued to prove difficult to settle and in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of SOLAR WONDER and VANQUISH DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HOW WONDERFUL after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, HOW WONDERFUL will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HAPPY CHA CHA, HEALTHY MANNER and YOUNG HERO were sent for sampling.
