Recap by phillip woo

Well-fancied late, Gurus Dream pressed forward three deep from a wide gate to eventually sit outside the leader Crown Witness, straightened four deep and eventually wore down Crown Witness in the final 30m for a second win from four starts with the switch to Sha Tin. Crown Witness had to work hard to lead from gate 13 passing the 900m, straightened just over a length on top and kept on gamely. Time After Time made his run behind midfield and two deep, had to duck and weave a run along the inside after being short of room four deep upon straightening and finished off nicely. Taverner was posted three deep around midfield, rounded the final bend with two wider out and just out-finished Perfect Gear and Lucky Bravo for fourth prize. Specked late, Perfect Gear was put up near the speed in fifth and one-off the fence with cover, cornered five wide and kept plugging on late. Lucky Bravo made his run worse than midfield and along the rails, straightened three deep and kept on evenly over the final 10m with every chance. Make A Fortune was shuffled back when tight for room approaching the 800m to settle in a rearward position near the inside, straightened four deep and made a mild bid. Heartline found little in the straight run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (135) - THE YAN CHAI TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200 Meters EURO POWER and AL PRINCE were slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, NIGHTLIGN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FAIR NAVIGATOR failed to muster speed.

Making the first turn near the 850 Metres, MAKE A FORTUNE was crowded for room inside FAIR NAVIGATOR which was taken in marginally by LUCKY BRAVO.

Also making the first turn near the 850 Metres, HEARTLINE and IMPECCABLE bumped.

After the 600 Metres and again approaching the 500 Metres, TAVERNER was steadied away from the heels of PERFECT GEAR which, after shifting to the outside of IMPECCABLE, was then taken out by that horse.

TIME AFTER TIME was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and after passing the 350 Metres was shifted to the inside of runners to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, CITY POWER travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HEARTLINE at the request of Trainer P O!|Sullivan.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

TIME AFTER TIME, GURUS DREAM and CROWN WITNESS were sent for sampling.
