Recap by phillip woo

Arrived Ahead travelled handy to the speed near the centre of the course and responded when asked for an effort to take control 100m out for the win. He's promising and should hold his own off a light weight in the next grade. Space Race travelled near the speed and two-off the outside fence, worked to the lead 400m out and just held off a stubborn Xi Ying Men for second. Xi Ying Men travelled in second behind Dane Patrol and three-off the grandstand side and kept on gamely. Diamond Knight settled three-off the stands side and worse than midfield and made some ground without threatening. Stallion Supreme travelled near the speed hugging the outside fence and only held his ground in the run to the line. Short-priced favourite Supreme Jewellery made his run with only one to his inside in a prominent position, but tended to shy under the whip and whacked away evenly over the final 150m. Hawthorne was up with the leaders in the centre of the course and was stopping over the final 150m. Genki Moochi settled worse than midfield, was under the whip at the 400m and only made a mild bid late. Jun Qi was never a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (146) - PENNINGTON HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000 Meters MERACUS began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped STALLION SUPREME.

ARRIVED AHEAD began awkwardly.

DIAMOND KNIGHT, which was fractious in the stalls, was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of SPACE RACE which shifted out.

Approaching the 400 Metres, DANE PATROL was steadied when crowded for room between STALLION SUPREME and SPACE RACE which got its head on the side and shifted out.

After this, SPACE RACE continued to lay out.

After the 400 Metres, DIAMOND KNIGHT got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.

Over the concluding stages, JUN QI raced in restricted room between HAWTHORNE and ENTHUSING which was taken out by SUPREME JEWELLERY.

Also over the concluding stages, GENKI MOOCHI had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Over the concluding stages, STALLION SUPREME was awkwardly placed close to the heels of XI YING MEN.

Because of this, STALLION SUPREME was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race as it otherwise would be.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUPREME JEWELLERY, D Whyte said that although SUPREME JEWELLERY had drawn awkwardly, he was able to shift across to race behind and inside the eventual winner, ARRIVED AHEAD.

He said SUPREME JEWELLERY travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages, however, commenced to come under pressure near the 400 Metres.

He said whilst SUPREME JEWELLERY did not give ground in the run to the line, it finished off the race only one-paced.

He added over the final 200 Metres SUPREME JEWELLERY shifted out on a number of occasions when struck with the whip.

A veterinary inspection of DANE PATROL and SUPREME JEWELLERY after the race did not show any significant findings.
