Recap by phillip woo

Oriental Courser was taken across runners at the rear of the field from a wide gate, before taking closer order fourth from the rear and along the inside at the 800m, angled into the clear six wide at the 350m and finished willingly to topple Rocket Proud in deep stretch for the win. Rocket Proud enjoyed a one-out, one-back run, worked to the lead three deep at the 100m and kept on gamely to hold Brilliant One for second. Old-timer Brilliant One made his run behind midfield and two deep, rounded the final bend to the outside of Oriental Courser and got going nicely inside the final 100m. El Grande finished well to fill the frame in fourth. He's ready to salute the judge from an inside gate. Firming favourite Gamekeepers jumped alertly to lead from gate five with My Time pestering him to his outside, was still a length on top at the 150m and weakened the last 100m. He'll come on for this debut run, but looks a better prospect on the home surface at Sha Tin. Sammy's Falcon travelled midfield and on the fence, shifted into the clear four deep at the 200m and kept up a steady gallop off a big weight. Assure enjoyed the box-seat run, straightened one off the fence and was weakening over the final 150m with every chance. Fiery Raider was posted deep ahead of midfield from a wide gate, hit the straight with one wider out and never did click in his initial turf test. Sharema Feeling made his run at the rear of the field after going back from gate nine, was steadied at the head of the straight, but never looked likely. He didn't handle the going.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (152) - CHICAGO HANDICAP (Sec 1) - Class 4 - 1200 Meters MOCHI was withdrawn on 7.11.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (ulcer to left eye) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FIERY RAIDER.

Before being allowed to race again, MOCHI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

ASSURE began awkwardly.

Approaching the 800 Metres, SHANGHAI PIONEER shifted out towards SHAREMA FEELING which became unbalanced.

Near the 150 Metres, FIERY RAIDER, which was giving ground, was momentarily crowded for room between TEAM WORK which was taken out by SAMMY'S FALCON and ORIENTAL COURSER which shifted in.

Over the concluding stages, EL GRANDE got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in SHANGHAI PIONEER being hampered.

For the majority of the race, FIERY RAIDER travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

After the race, Z Purton reported that SHAREMA FEELING was not comfortable in its action and was making an abnormal breathing noise.

A veterinary inspection of SHAREMA FEELING after the race did not show any significant findings.
