Recap by phillip woo

Mentor was handy to the speed in fourth about two lengths off the leader three off the grandstand side, was under pressure at the 400m and took control 30m out for a smart debut win with the money spot on late. Ultimate Winners sat inside the leader Cosmic Boom two-off the outside fence, was asked for an effort at the 500m and kept up a strong gallop. He's had to shake off leg issues before his debut and looks a nice prospect. Early favourite Beauty King rated nicely ahead of midfield and one-off the outside fence and got going late to make it a close go for second. He's a winner waiting to happen, but may be looking forward to a longer sprint. Late-fancied favourite Cosmic Boom led from an outside gate one off the grandstand side and lost a placing inside the final 50m. He'll come on from this run and prove a tough one to gun down next time out. Supreme Hong Kong wasn't flash into stride and squeezed out between runners after the break, eventually made his run underneath Beauty King at the 800m and made some ground after being short of room at the 150m. Island Spring was handy to the speed in fifth and in the centre of the course and was in the hunt, before peaking just inside the 100m. Kensworth Kid settled second or third from rear near the grandstand side and made some ground while tending to work to the centre of the course over the last 150m. Country Charm never looked likely over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (213) - HANKOW HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000 Meters When proceeding from the Parade Ring to the track, GOOD SMILE became fractious, reared over and struck its head on the ground.

Apprentice T H So, the rider of GOOD SMILE, was injured in this incident.

Acting on veterinary advice that GOOD SMILE was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, GOOD SMILE will be required to undertake schooling in the Parade Ring to the satisfaction of the Stewards and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

As Apprentice So was transported to hospital, he was stood down from his remaining riding engagements.

KENSWORTH KID was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, SUPREME HONG KONG, which began awkwardly, was crowded for room between COUNTRY CHARM and SUPER VAN which was taken in by COSMIC BOOM which shifted in at the start.

In this incident, SUPREME HONG KONG bumped the hindquarters of COUNTRY CHARM which became unbalanced.

Shortly after the start, SIMPLE raced in restricted room between GOLDEN INSIGHT and ISLAND SPRING.

Approaching the 600 Metres, COUNTRY CHARM and SIMPLE were crowded for room between ISLAND SPRING (T Clark) which shifted out and SUPREME HONG KONG which was taken in by BEAUTY KING which shifted ground after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of COSMIC BOOM.

T Clark was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

After the 400 Metres, TANG PALACE was bumped by SIMPLE which shifted in when racing greenly.

After this, TANG PALACE was inclined to hang out and proved difficult to ride.

Approaching the 50 Metres, SUPREME HONG KONG became awkwardly placed on the heels of ULTIMATE WINNERS and shifted out.
