Recap by phillip woo

Union's Star was always travelling well in midfield and on the rails, was short of room four deep upon straightening, shifted into the clear at the 200m and let down well to gun down Royal Doctor in the final few metres for the win. Well-punted late, Royal Doctor travelled in fourth and without cover three deep, swept to the front four deep at the 150m and kept on well off a light weight in an encouraging return to the races. Happy Prestige was caught three deep without cover in midfield, rallied six wide upon straightening and was eating at the margin to make it close for second. Century Super Star was taken across runners and settled second from the back after breaking from the widest gate, rallied four wide and made good headway to fill the frame. Bullish King pressed forward to lead uncontested, straightened on top by two lengths and gave way 100m out. Favourite The Wand travelled a handy fifth between runners, rounded the final bend five wide and kept on evenly without threatening in a disappointing performance. Solar Up tracked the speed in third and only held his ground. Gene Power was ridden along to hold a position behind midfield and two deep, was close to heels at the 600m, rallied five wide upon straightening and never let down with a switch to the dirt.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (218) - ASHLEY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200 Meters Trainer R Gibson was fined the sum of $5,000 for inadvertently declaring O Doleuze as the rider of SEA PRINCE.

It was subsequently ascertained that O Doleuze was not able to ride SEA PRINCE due to being unable to make the weight.

Accordingly, G Cheyne was substituted as the rider of SEA PRINCE.

ROYAL DOCTOR was crowded for room at the start between PUBLIC FIGURE and WINNING ARCH which shifted out.

In this incident, both WINNING ARCH and ROYAL DOCTOR became unbalanced.

From the outside barrier, CENTURY SUPER STAR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.

Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, PUBLIC FIGURE failed to muster speed and consequently raced well back.

Making the turn after the 800 Metres, GENE POWER got its head on the side and hung out, resulting in WINNING ARCH being taken out across the heels of HAPPY PRESTIGE.

UNION'S STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Near the 100 Metres, THE WAND was steadied when crowded for room between HAPPY PRESTIGE and UNION'S STAR which got its head on the side and shifted out away from ROYAL DOCTOR which itself was shifting out.

Throughout the race, ROYAL DOCTOR travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of GENE POWER after the race revealed that the horse had sustained a cut to the left front pastern, however, the horse was not able to be scoped.

Before being allowed to race again, GENE POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of PUBLIC FIGURE after the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that SEA PRINCE had bled from both nostrils.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WINNING ARCH at the request of Trainer A T Millard.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, WINNING ARCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

THE WAND, UNION'S STAR and ROYAL DOCTOR were sent for sampling.
